birthday and pug!

Thursday evening was our monthly PUG (Pictage User Group) Meeting.

It also happened to be Rich’s birthday:)

We decided to celebrate as a family throughout the day and go to the PUG meeting that evening. We had an incredible time hanging out with old friends and even some brand new ones! Rich had recently met Shane and Melodie Stiles and Thursday evening was my first chance to meet them. Melodie had known it was Rich’s birthday and made Cake Balls that looked like LITTLE RICH HEADS! Yes, I’m serious. Not only were they completely DELICIOUS, but they were totally creative and funky. Thank you so much, Melodie! And thank you to Sara, who also went out of her way for me, picking up Rich’s cake and cookies at my house earlier that day to help with the surprise. Thank you girls!

The whole group! Me and Rich, Nathan and Amber Holritz, Grant and Sara Dotson, John and Lindsey Bamber, Shane and Melodie Stiles, Michelle McKibben, Diana Simpson, Matt Bechtol, Meredith White (and her awesome fiance Brian).

These are all incredible people and we are honored to be in the same city and industry with each of them! Thank you all for helping me to celebrate Rich’s birthday – it was a special one and we had a blast!

pictage cookout!

Whew! Tonight was a total blast! Rich and I are so completely thankful for our group of local photographers. We could not be happier that THIS is the group we get to work with, learn from, share with, refer to, and collaborate with.

We decided to have this month’s PUG (Pictage User Group) at our home and to make it a cookout! Thank you so much to Grant and Sara for much hard work…the turnout was phenomenal and we appreciate everything you did! And as always, thank you to the new leadership at Pictage for the renewed vision and support for photographers!

All I had to do to prepare was to make some pound cake and queso…and, OH YA, call an “animal and wildlife specialist” to come take away a dead opossum that had just started to smell HORRIBLE in our crawl space. Uh huh. Good timing. After almost six years of living in this house — and on a night that 30 people are on their way — a dead animal decides to grace our space. Thankfully, Mr. Animal Specialist was professional and super speedy, and by the time guests started arriving, no smell was to be had other than that of a cookout.

Trust me, if most of us didn’t have little ones who needed to get home and in bed, we would have busted out Strut and gotten some nice photos with the clothespins that Melody brought for our noses after Rich tweeted about the smell. Nice.

Check out this group. We love these people! Nathan and Amber Holritz. John and Lindsey Bamber, Jimmy and Brittany Moncrief, Eric and Meghan Campbell, Melody Hood, Meredith WhiteGrant and Sara Dotson, Diana Simpson, George and Carly Chaney, Eric Ellis, and a few who had already made their exit…SO SAD not to have them in our photo…Ben and Joy Finch, Ben Massey and Colleen McCreary, Ricki Chester, and Kandice Ledford.

To old friends and new, thank you so much for coming out tonight! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing each and every one of you, and hope for many more get togethers!

To George and Carly, safe travels and many adventures as you move to Seattle this week! We love you guys!!!

april photographers luncheon!

Today was a crazy whirlwind of a lunch get together! For a couple of years, a small group of local photographers has been meeting (originally because we were all members of OSP) and we’ve had a great time getting to know each other. But the past couple of months we have all been going in different directions and haven’t met…until yesterday.

Melody Hood put the work into securing the amazing Taco Mamacita for the locale, and sent out emails which Rich and I (and I’m sure others) tweeted and facebooked about.

When we showed up we couldn’t believe the turnout. There were around 20 people and many of them had never been to one of our little get togethers. We are SO excited about it, and are so thankful for our old AND new friends!

Among the people we already knew were Nathan and Amber Holritz, Meghan Campbell, Jimmy and Brittany Moncrief, Melody Hood, Carly Chaney, Joey and Pleasant Vonnoh, Greg and Angela Beasley, Grant and Sara Dotson and Meredith White

…and our NEW friends include Dawn Skowronnek, Cynthia Trundle, Bob Edens and Tim Ivey.

Rich has been dubbed by Jimmy as the “self portrait authority” and even though it was doubted whether or not he could take a self-portrait of 20 people, he did it with room to spare:)Uh huh, he’s my hero:)

It was an absolute blast to see all of you and to meet a few of you for the first time! We are looking forward to many more!!!

And if any of our blog readers have not yet been to Taco Mamacita, check out Rich’s recent photo shoot for them, and then go eat there. SO good!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!
