Jon Paul and Laura Davis invited us over for what turned out to be a really fun, fascinating night. From the minute we stepped in their door, we had great conversation and near constant laughs!
Laura and Jon Paul are the group U. I. Blue, and have recorded the CD shown below (Songbird’s Cry). They make an incredible singer/songwriter duo! Their music is acoustic, progressive rock with Laura’s vocals being reminiscent of Enya or Sarah Brightman! We love it!
Then, dinner was an incredible experience in itself! Laura had prepared a meal that was brand new to Rich and I. It’s called Raclette Jour de Fête and we are now hooked! Heather and I want to buy one and begin experimenting with it ourselves. Apparently, it isn’t even available in the states and has to be ordered online and shipped from Canada. Basically you have this grill in the middle of the table and different ingredients all around. You grab a baked potato and start cooking toppings on the grill and melt cheese in the handled dishes that are then put under the heating element. Put cooked ingredients on the potato and eat! Yum!
We also got to enjoy Jon Paul and Laura’s dogs, Lincoln and Howser. They are great dogs (and super cute), and it was obvious that they live a very happy life! Here’s Lincoln lounging as we chatted and looked at pictures of Jon Paul and Laura’s dating days!
And Howser… check out those paws! He’s only about 3 months old and will soon be very large! Right now, he’s growing into his body and is SO sweet and adorable!

Jon Paul…doesn’t he look so contemplative? I think this picture is pretty indicative of his personality…he’s intelligent, witty, and talented! I particularly enjoyed it when he broke out into a brief French monologue at dinner! He grew up in France and is fluent in the language.
And of course, the self-portrait! Jon Paul and Laura, thank you again for having us over and for your hospitality!!! We had a great time and look forward to our next time together!
