It was a breezy but absolutely beautiful day as our caravan made it’s way up over the mountain towards Dunlap, TN and in the absolute middle of nowhere. We were heading to the family farm owned by the Campbell family. It turned out that it had been in the family for a century and had seen it’s share of good times and tragedies.
The warmth of the day made the wind tolerable but there was a time or two when I regretted wearing a t-shirt. It didn’t take long to realize that this was a special family. Everyone seemed to genuinely love hanging out together. That just made my job much easier. They quickly accepted me as the outsider there to document their day together and we soon were having an absolute blast!

Peyton and Roman enjoying feeding the cows. Turns out that “Papa Campbell” comes out there everyday to take care of the cows. A retired pharmacist turned true cattleman. He was never without a story to tell about the land that surrounded me.

Here’s Jimmy. You may recognize him from a photoshoot I did not very long ago. Really nice guy but according to my book — he’s not all there. Instead of riding with the rest of us for the hours journey in the comfort of a modern automobile and the luxuries that come with having a vehicle, he decided to get up early, run 6 miles to downtown Chattanooga and ride his bike to the farm. I’m quickly finding out that he’s probably the most disciplined person I know of. So although I think he’s crazy, I wish I could totally be like him. So, I guess it’s a good crazy. heheh

I love this moment that I captured of Mimi and her grandson. This photo I believe encapsulates the tenderness I saw in this family. They are blessed.

Here’s Mark and Jennifer with their two children – Preston & Peyton.

Random pic but I just loved this mushroom I found in the field. I hate eating them but love photographing them!

Wrapping up the day with a family walk:
